Colorado labor history records struggles by coal miners and by hard rock miners relating to issues such as wages, work hours, and working conditions.

Coal miners organized with the United Mine Workers and, for a brief period, with the Industrial Workers of the World. Hard rock miners, who mined gold, silver, and other precious metals, organized into the Western Federation of Miners.

In 1903, the Western Federation of Miners declared a strike. In 1904, as part of a struggle that has become known as the Colorado Labor Wars, the Colorado National Guard laid seige to the WFM union hall in Victor, Colorado.

The building still stands, replete with bullet holes on the exterior. This historic union hall needs restoration. That is our goal.
